‘Dhing Express’ Hima Das acquires 5th gold in July by boasting the top honours in a 400-metre race in Czech Republic.
The ace Indian sprinter gained the gold medal after she clocked a season-best time of 52.09 sec in her pet competition at the Nove Mesto nad Metuji Grand Prix on Saturday. Her very own best is 50.79 sec, which she logged at the Asian Games in 2018.
“Finished 400m today on the top here in Czech Republic,” she tweeted after the race.
In her very first competitive 200m race of the year on July 2, Hima clocked 23.65 sec to triumph gold at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix, also in Poland.
And then on July 8, she won her second 200m gold at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland. Braving a sore back, the Assam runner clocked 23.97 sec to gain the gold while Kerala runner V.K. Vismaya grabbed silver with a timing of 24.06 seconds.
On July 13, she garnered her 3rd 200m gold at the Kladno Athletics Meet in Czech Republic with a time of 23.43 sec.
“Flood situation in our state Assam is very critical , 30 out of 33 districts are currently affected. So,I would like to request big corporates and individuals to kindly come forward and help our state in this difficult situation,” Hima asserted recently.
She additionally verified that she herself have contributed to the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds with news recommending that she has donated half of the salary she acquires from Indian Oil Corporation.
